New Kid in the Kitchen: Pal Pal 🍜
Hell’s Kitchen, New York seems to have a restaurant from every single corner of the world.
From Afghan cuisine to Caribbean, and Sichuan to Peruvian, there’s never been a soul who has uttered that “there’s nothing to eat” over in HK.
Well, it seems like the neighborhood is trying to break its own records.
Now, there’s a brand new Korean spot on the block, offering an authentic K-experience, complete with K-food, K-booze, and popping out of the speakers, is, of course, K-pop.
It’s even got an authentic K-name – PalPal Pocha, which translates to ‘steaming hot’ or ‘vibrant’ street bar.

Maybe I was snoozing for too long, but it seems like Korean culture slammed onto the eye of the American windshield over the last few years.
From K-movies on Netflix to K-hairstyles dotting Pinterest boards, the K’s are here to stay.
There are always new trends that pop up through time, but rarely is an entire country the phenomenon.
I find it exciting, because this culture is so lively and bursting with flavor in the most subtle ways – behind the neat veil of sophistication and order are supernovas of expression.
It starts with the food – just one dish might offer you fermented kimchi, fried and seasoned fish, mysteriously delicious noodles, sizzling pork belly, a chewy seaweed roll, and definitely something with a runny egg.

Bulgogi (translated as “fire meat”) isn’t just thinly sliced beef marinated to perfection – it’s also a 1,200 year-old staple of Korean identity.
PalPal Pocha is cool because it’s the real deal of Korean experience, owner Kevin Gu tells me.
“I really want to introduce the community to holistic Korean – the service, drinks and atmosphere. Not just the food.”
Kevin and PalPal are right at home, because in this city, everyone’s a stranger from somewhere In the world, along with some element that makes them special or unique.
Remember, the “melting pot…”
That’s what’s awesome about culture-forward places like Hell’s Kitchen.
If you’re willing to share everything you’re about with these people, they’ll gladly celebrate it as if its their own.

What’s The Hype? 🤷🏽♂️
People are always going on about the importance of sleep.
They’re always like, “sleep is the foundation of your life.”
But are they right? Does sleep really matter that much?
Short answer, yes.
It’s the most important thing in your life outside of your waking life itself.

Sleep is the foundation of your day-to-day.
Aim High, Build Low 👷🏼♂️
If your life is a skyscraper you’re building, sleep is the cement foundation sitting underneath it.
Mess with that, and the whole thing can’t stand on its own.
To follow that skyscraper metaphor, think of bliss as one of the penthouse floors we’re mapping out.
The blueprint for a top-floor masterpiece like bliss is quality sleep and rest. is the most effective and efficient route to achieving feelings of consistent peace.
That’s why it’s like the cement foundation in the photo above.
There Has To Be More To Life … 🔭
Whether we achieve bliss through success, achievement, family or creation, a life that rewards us with peace is the goal.
But peace is just one thing we want.
Other things we want from life are more thrilling.
We all want satisfaction from our lives. Pleasure.
We want our lives to feel three-dimensional – everything we do should feel rich, textured and sensual.
Our lives would feel great if there were quality options for social connection, bonding, community, adventure, exploration, and a healthy sum of challenges.
Of course, what we all seek is novelty, craving new things with new people, and plenty of moments to remember.
It may sound like what I’m describing is only for wide-eyed children, or those whisked away on a drug-fueled escape or lost in a classic novel – but a life of depth and vibrance isn’t fantasy.
But it is waiting for you on the other side of the dream world.
That’s because a wildly fulfilling life during the day comes from the release and regeneration you experience during sleep.

When you sleep well, your bliss comes from tiny moments that are slow and highly detailed.
The mundane begins to perk up.
Smells start to pack a heartier punch. Food tastes more bold and layered.
