I'm Moving ...

It's been real.

Loyal Down to Earth Readers,

I Have an Announcement.

After months of careful consideration, I’ve decided to make a big move.

As many of you know, I created Down to Earth earlier this year, resulting in a wonderful nine months of writing, podcasting, and connection to this community.

But like all good things, this too must come to an end. And that’s why …I’m leaving.

To Beehiiv! 🥳

Beehiiv Review: Best Newsletter Platform of 2024? | Medium

Beehiiv is a newsletter hosting platform, similar to Substack.

Settle down, settle down. Down to Earth is switching platforms, but it isn’t going anywhere. You’ll still get my emails every Sunday morning, and you won’t have to lift a finger.

Down to Earth is currently hosted on Substack. Most of you read the newsletter through email, so you may not be familiar with Substack — it’s the website where you can read my posts and other writers’ work. Beehiiv is quite similar.

Why am I leaving Substack? 🐝

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Last Scene on Make a GIF

Don’t get me wrong, Substack is great. It’s clean, reliable, and simple — just what I needed to start my first newsletter.

That being said, I feel that it’s time for change. I desire more control over my brand, hoping to expand beyond podcasts, writing, and social media content. At Beehiiv, I believe this is possible.

With more customizability and an emphasis on presentation, my Beehiiv website will convey the look and feel of Down to Earth better than ever.

The Creator Investor
Beehiiv will catapult my brand to the next level.

As readers, you can look forward to ads from large, recognizable companies that best represent me. Since I’m all about health and community, brands like SoulCycle, ClassPass, or Headspace could easily partner with me.

You’ll get improved tools and tips for health and happiness, along with inspiring content that nudges you to be better each week.

I’ll also be exploring new ways to collaborate with writers and brands who use Beehiiv. With an integrated shop, I’ll finally be able to get you guys the Down to Earth merch you’ve been wanting. You’ll be able to get free stuff, access to exclusive content and events and more with Beehiiv’s referral program. Big things are in store.

You Don’t Have to Change 🙏🏾

Not much will change from your perspective as a reader, and you won’t have to sign up for anything. ***PAID SUBSCRIBERS WILL SEE THEIR SUBSCRIPTIONS CARRIED OVER TO BEEHIIV, FREE OF CHARGE!***

The newsletter format will remain the same: Sunday morning posts with actionable tools for happiness and stories about community.

If you read my posts through the Substack app, no worries. Beehiiv has a solution for you.

So, don’t frown because it’s over, smile because we’ve only just begun!

I’m very grateful you’re a part of the next chapter in the Down to Earth journey. See you on Beehiiv!

The Great Greek Bakery: 100 Years in the Making 👨🏻‍🍳

I’m excited to share the first video in my latest digital series.

I’ll be exploring small businesses in my hometown of Hell’s Kitchen.

In celebration of the neighborhood’s rich legacy, I interviewed Paul Fable, the fourth generation in Poseidon Bakery’s family ownership. You’re in for a sweet treat!

Wafting from within brick walls in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen is the heavenly scent of fila – otherwise known as Greek-style pastry dough. Mix that with honey, fresh chives, and various sweet aromas, and you’ll quickly realize that New York can smell great.

For Poseidon Bakery, these lovely aromas are the standard. The authentic Greek bakery has been in business for over 100 years, and its pastry recipes are just as timeless.

But as the years pass, the neighborhood that Poseidon serves is disappearing.

What will become of the few remaining Mom & Pop shops in Hell’s Kitchen?
